Privacy policy

EC261 Check is designed to keep the flight checker lightweight and privacy-conscious. This page explains what is processed when you use the site.

Flight lookups

When you check a flight, the site sends the flight number and flight date to the backend so it can retrieve flight status data and calculate a simple result. The backend caches flight status responses to avoid repeating the same external lookup unnecessarily.

The public recent flights feature stores only sanitized flight-level details such as flight number, date, airline, route, delay minutes, broad result, and rounded update time. It should not store names, emails, booking references, IP addresses, user agents, referrers, or exact user-visible timestamps.

Analytics

The site uses privacy-safe aggregate analytics to understand basic usage and results. Analytics events should not include flight numbers, flight dates, names, booking references, or contact details.

Tracked event details may include broad values such as language, result type, delay bucket, possible compensation amount, and whether route jurisdiction was detected.

Cookies and local storage

The checker itself does not require an account. Analytics providers may use cookies or similar browser storage depending on browser settings and regional behavior. You can block or clear cookies through your browser controls.

Contact

See the contact page for support scope and guidance. Do not send booking references, passenger names, or other sensitive claim information through unofficial channels.
